Maa Mahagauri is a Hindu goddess and is one of the nine forms of the Goddess Durga, who is worshipped during the festival of Navratri. She is also known as Adi Shakti, Parvati, and Devi.
Mahagauri is depicted as a beautiful woman with four arms, riding a bull or seated on a lotus flower. She is usually shown wearing white clothes and holding a trident and a tambourine. The name "Mahagauri" means "extremely white," and she is known for her fair complexion.
Legend has it that Mahagauri is the younger form of Parvati, who did intense penance to please Lord Shiva and eventually won his heart. It is said that her penance was so rigorous that her complexion turned dark, and Lord Shiva granted her the boon of regaining her fair complexion. Hence, she is also known as Shwetambardhara.
Maa Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri, and it is believed that by worshipping her, devotees can attain peace, purity, and enlightenment. It is said that worshipping her can also remove all sins and diseases and bestow the devotee with health and prosperity.
